You certainly can. Don't know why people would want to buy your customized equipment though.

putting something in HoM (dedicating) is actually the same as customization

No it isn't, anyone can use a dedicated minipet.

OP clearly stated weapons. We're not talking about minipets here.

They are, but there is no benefit to customizing them (weapons get +20% damage, shields get nothing)

When displayed:
Weapons become customized (all, noone else use them)
Minipets become dedicated (they can be used by everyone, but noone can display them)
Armors don't change
Heroes don't change

I recomend you to make some useful weapons for yourself and heroes and use them.
It is possible to rare salvage it when displayed and get rare mat drops, but I couldn's destroy my vabbian set for a few rubbies/sapphires, Kurzick for some amber,... This isn't worth it.

I'd also like to point out that it's not possible to lose progress in the HoM. If you've put something in, you can never remove it or lose those points no matter what.

The HoM calculator is also account based so if you want to do the weapons on the other characters that may find more use for the weapon, it may be a better idea. Or alternatively you could always give them to heroes etc
